Prof Dr Soumendra Sahoo, PhD
DIRECTOR, CTL
The main goal of CTL is to offer high-quality faculty development programs that foster lifelong curiosity and the continuous acquisition of knowledge and skills through research and teaching. These programs aim to enhance patient outcomes, professional medical competence, and overall performance.
Since hosting the inaugural International Conference in Interprofessional Education Practice & Care (ICON-IPEPC) in 2018, CTL has led the convergence of interprofessional education (IPE) and interprofessional practice (IPP). CTL made history by organizing the first-ever national Health Care Team Challenge (HCTC), which brought together multiprofessional student teams from five Malaysian universities. Looking ahead, the Asia Pacific HCTC will be featured in the 5th edition of ICON-IPEPC in 2025.
CTL collaborates with IBM, MAEMHS, the Medical Education Unit of NU Oman, and the MHAE-FAIMER Institute to enrich its conferences and short courses. In alignment with its mission to promote interdisciplinary academic collaboration and innovation, CTL has also partnered with universities and industry leaders to offer a diverse range of short courses focused on the skill enhancement of healthcare professionals.
Other notable initiatives include the launch of an international e-journal club on interprofessional education, practice, and care, as well as the publication of CTL's own journal, the International Journal of Transformative Health Profession Education (IJTHPE), which is issued biannually.
Our vision is to establish CTL as a leading hub for training and research in health professions education.
