    Why does your centre exist within MUCM?

    The scope of CTL broadly encompasses the presiding of periodic faculty development training in MUCM to empower educators in the field of teaching-learning, assessment, and academic leadership. CTL is the epicentre for the fostering of academic interaction at a multidisciplinary/inter-professional level, and the promotion of academic innovations in HEALTH PROFESSIONS education through the organisation of national of international workshops. CTL is the catalyst to the espousal of scholarship in teaching and learning in MUCM.

    Meet Our Team

    Prof. Dr. Adinegara Lutfi Abas (Community Medicine)

    Professor (Community Medicine)
    Pro Vice Chancellor (Research, Quality & Compliance) and Dean, Faculty of Allied Health & Psychology

    Started his career as a Community Medicine lecturer in 2000. Has been involved in medical education workshops for the past 20 years. Obtained FAIMER fellowship in Ludhiana, India in 2013. He was made Chief Facilitator for Malaysia Public Health’s Workshop On Monitoring & Evaluation of Public Health Program in 2013. Currently involved in accreditation of both undergraduate (MBBS) and specialty programmes in Malaysia representing Malaysian Medical Council and Malaysian Qualifications Agency. In addition, Prof Adinegara serves as a committee member for the Undergraduate Education Sub-Committee of the Medical Education Committee, Malaysian Medical Council and for the Postgraduate Working Committee, Malaysian Medical Council.

    Prof. Dr. Soumendra Sahoo

    Prof Dr Soumendra Sahoo has 32+ years of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at several foreign universities as an academic leader, lecturer, clinician, and researcher. He completed a medical education fellowship at the CMCL-FAIMER regional center and serves as international Faculty for MAHE-FAIMER & CMCL-FAIMER, He did enormous advancements in medical education that were turned into academic pursuits and carried out a number of medical education faculty development initiatives. As organizing chair, he successfully arranged two national and five international conferences. He has been one of Malaysia's HRDCorp Accredited Trainers. A couple of Manipal Global Education Services' MaGEX awards to his credit.

    Dr. Ganesh Kamath

    Associate Professor (Physiology)
    Coordinator, Faculty Development Programmes (FDP)

    Dr. Ganesh has been working as a Physiologist for the past 22 years at Manipal. He is involved in health professions education for the past 20 years. Completed his FAIMER fellowship in 2011 from GSMC -FAIMER Mumbai, India and is a faculty and project coordinator at the MAHE FAIMER institute. He completed the Massachusetts General Hospital- Institute of Health Professions (MGH-IHP)- Boston graduate level Two-year non-degree (online) course, to obtain the Health Profession Education Teaching and Learning Certificate in 2019.

    Dr. Suprava Das

    Associate Professor (Pharmacology)
    Co-Coordinator, Faculty Development Programmes (FDP)

    Dr Suprava Das is an associate Professor in Pharmacology, MUCM and co-Coordinator of Faculty Development Programmes (FDP) under CTL. She has been working as a Pharmacologist for the past 17 years and involved in health professions education for the past 19 years. She completed her certificate course in medical education in 2017 from New Castle University, UK. She also completed Advanced Pedagogy Certificate course in 2024 hosted by MUCM in conjunction with National University Oman. She delivered her talk at various national and international conferences in Virginia (USA), Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Bangladesh. She reviewed local, regional, and international journals towards promoting health professions education.

    Dr Ashwathy Varadarajan Thundakattil

    Associate Professor (Physiology)
    Coordinator, Journals

    Dr. Ashwathy has over 10 years of expertise teaching Physiology and clinical skill across medical, dental, and allied health programs in India and Malaysia. She holds an M.D. in Physiology, postgraduate certificate in Medical Education and is currently pursuing an MSc in Medical Education from the University of Warwick, UK.Dr. Ashwathy has authored numerous articles in national and international journals. Her research interests include cardiovascular physiology, medical education, yoga, exercise physiology and COVID-19 vaccine immunogenicity. She has also mentored award-winning student research. She is actively involved in curriculum development, and academic quality management.

    Dr. Sambit Dash

    Associate Professor (Biochemistry)
    Co-Coordinator, Journals

    Dr Sambit has over 16 years of experience in teaching Biochemistry & Genetics across medical curriculums. His research areas include health professions education, EdTech, digital health & public policy. Dr Sambit has published in reputed journals including BMJ Global Health & Bulletin of the WHO, has been a reviewer for journals like BMJ Open, BMC Health Services Research among others and has been a copyeditor for Manipal University Press (MUP). He is trained in Public Policy & Ethics and is a regular opinion piece contributor to various media houses.

    Ms. Anisah Ong

    Senior Lecturer, Foundation in Science
    Coordinator, Design

    Ms. Anisah or Eunice has been involving in the Pre-University education for more than a decade. She has been aiming to produce graduates or young adults with advanced communication skills using English language. She targets to inculcate Life-Long-Learning (LLL) & Problem-Solving Skills in her students.

    Mr. Kukkamalla Anand

    Assistant Professor, Dept. of Microbiology
    Coordinator, Interprofessional Education and Practice (IPE/IPP)

    Kukkamalla Anand has been working as a Microbiologist for the past 27 years at Manipal. He has been involved in Health Professions Education for the past 27 years with keen interest in Mentorship, PBL/CBL, Student TL & Assessment modalities and IPE/IPP. He has successfully completed his FAIMER fellowship from PSG-FRI Coimbatore, India in 2010. He is a regional faculty for PSGFRI, Coimbatore and MAHE FAIMER Institute, Manipal and a faculty project coordinator / Mentor at both these institutes. He is currently undertaking the I-FACE 2025 training program offered by IFI, Philadelphia.

    Ms. Vinothini

    Program Coordinator - Physiotherapy Department
    Co-Coordinator, Interprofessional Education and Practice (IPE/IPP)

    Miss Vinothini Padmanathan is an accomplished academician and physiotherapist with nearly 15 years of experience in higher education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from Manipal University College Malaysia (MUCM) and a Master’s degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She is currently pursuing a PhD in Human Factors Engineering. Miss Vinothini serves as the Head of Programme for the Physiotherapy Department at MUCM, where she leads academic development, curriculum design, and student training. In addition to her academic responsibilities, she is the Clinical Director for Special Olympics Malaysia, actively promoting inclusive healthcare for individuals with intellectual disabilities. She is also a certified ergonomist accredited by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (JKKP), Malaysia. Throughout her career, she has published numerous research papers in the fields of physiotherapy, ergonomics, and human factors, demonstrating her commitment to advancing both academic knowledge and practical applications in healthcare.
