About Cochrane
Cochrane is an independent global not-for-profit organization producing high-quality information to make health decisions for a clinician, patient or carer, researcher, or policymaker to enhance their healthcare knowledge and decision-making. It has many groups classified on the basis of their interests, expertise, and/or geographical location. Cochrane Malaysia is one of the Cochrane geographic groups which supports and promotes use of Cochrane evidence in health policy and practice in Malaysia. In its inception it comprised 3 affiliate sites. Manipal University College Malaysia is one of the founding affiliate sites.

Purpose of the committee is to sensitise health care professionals and health care students to produce quality evidence in health care sector, either independently or through teamwork in a transparent manner. Furthermore, it is to raise awareness, synthesize, and distribute high-quality evidence to healthcare professionals and workers using suitable communication channels, thereby enriching the learning process.

Workshops Conducted
MUCM has organized 7 Intervention Systematic Review workshops since its establishment.
Trainee Impact
Over 100 trainees, including faculty from government hospitals in Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, have been trained.
Review Output
MUCM has produced more than 25 complete reviews and around 20 protocols since its inception.
Excellence in Plain Language Summaries
Prof Noorliza Mastura Ismail has received a gold award for three consecutive years for her outstanding work in translating plain language summaries into Malay.
Student Involvement
The committee actively motivates students to engage in language translation and encourages their participation in podcasts.
Why does CSC centre exist within MUCM?
CSC aims to produce trusted evidence for health care professionals, policy makers, patient and their care givers to enhance their quality care and safety in health care practice through focused interaction through practical or instructional real sessions by conducting interactive practical events. Also, to sensitize and encourage health care students to spread the information about health related evidences either by translating evidences to local language or spread through podcast by humanitarian and altruistic practice of medicine.
