OVERVIEW
Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Occupational Therapy Programme
Occupational Therapists (OTs) are healthcare providers who evaluate and provide treatment to clients with physical/ psychosocial/ developmental impairments or disabilities to ensure their home, workplace, and community are accessible and safe. OTs play the role of enablers and health advocates by breaking down barriers that impede our client’s participation and facilitate functional performance in everyday activities. OTs work with clients and their community to achieve the outcome by modifying the occupation or the environment to enhance their ability to engage in the occupations they want to, need to, or are expected to do.
OT focuses on providing various therapeutic interventions/techniques, orthotics, and prosthetics; assistive and adaptive devices; mobility aids, and environmental modications to facilitate independent and safe participation in daily living activities such as self-care, work, and leisure of our clients despite their disabilities. Through holistic and comprehensive assessment, OTs provide comprehensive reports on the client’s functioning including recommendations of possible solutions and advocate regarding health and well-being.
