OVERVIEW
Introduction
The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme, Manipal University College Malaysia (MUCM) formerly known as Melaka-Manipal Medial College (MMMC) is a five-year programme accredited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and Malaysian Dental Council (MDC). It started in 2009 as a collaboration programme with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Inda. The first batch of students graduated in 2014 with the degree awarded by MAHE.
In 2020 The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) Malaysia, gave permission for MUCM to start the Homegrown Programme. Starting with the October intake 2020 (BDS 12), the BDS programme is fully conducted in Melaka Campus and the degree will be awarded by MUCM. It is conducted in two phases; whereby the Phase I is a two-year preclinical education while the Phase II is a three-year clinical training. The effort is a true reflection of the Manipal vision in nurturing students with towering personalities and to strengthen the Manipal value-based education.
The Faculty of Dentistry (FOD) adopts the traditional curriculum as its teaching-learning approach. Nonetheless, the horizontal and vertical integration of subjects is carried out through various strategies such as Problem Based Learning (PBL), Case Based Learning (CBL), Seminar, Clinico-Pathological Case Presentation and Blended Teaching.

The lecturers come from diverse backgrounds and experiences with one intention of providing value based dental education and nurturing dental professionals meeting local needs and prepare for globalization.

We are obliged to inculcate the traits of professionalism in our graduates.
