Special Olympics Malaysia hosted its Healthy Athletes Screening Programme at Manipal University College (MUCM) today with an international team of doctors from eight countries: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Fiji, Laos, Indonesia, Maldives, United Kingdom, and Malaysia.
The esteemed Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, YB Madam Hannah Yeoh, graciously officiated this momentous event.
The programme involved active participation from both Manipal University College Malaysia (MUCM) students and staff.
Medical and Dental screenings were conducted for children with disabilities and also for the general public, through a wide variety of initiatives: Foot fitness evaluation “Fitfeet”, physical therapy sessions “FUNfitness”, wellness and self-care “Health Promotion”, eye check-ups “Opening Eyes”, mental health “Strong Minds” initiatives, and specialised dental care through "Special Smiles".
This collaborative initiative with MUCM enhanced the program's impact and outreach, bringing together the expertise and dedication of both our students and staff. The presence of YB Madam Hannah Yeoh as the Guest of Honour further underscored the Malaysian government's commitment to promoting inclusivity and well-being through sports in Malaysia.
The event was an inspiring effort fostering a sense of global harmony and shared purpose among the participants.
