Accommodation: On Campus or Off Campus?
On-campus accommodation makes student life more convenient as you stay close to classes and other university activities. Shared accommodation off-campus can also be a flexible option but keep in mind that you will have to spend on rent, utilities, deposit and transport.
Ensure you understand what all are included in he rent, if the bills are shared, and how far you are from the campus.
Food and Daily Expenses
Food and groceries form a big chunk of your monthly budget. You can manage costs to a certain extent by eating at local restaurants, prepping meals at home, and planning grocery shopping.
Other Costs to Prepare For
Your monthly budget won’t cover each and every expense that comes along with you moving to Malaysia. International students should plan for travel, initial deposits, visa-charges and medical insurance charges. It is best to maintain an emergency fund for these expenses and keep it separate from the recurring living expenses.
