Message From Dean, FOD MUCM
The Faculty of Dentistry (FOD) started with the humble intake of first batch of students in 2009. The curriculum was adopted from the established Manipal College of Dental Sciences, India and revised to the needs of Malaysian Dental regulatory body. The lecturers come from diverse backgrounds and experiences with one intention of providing value based dental education and nurturing dental professionals meeting local needs and prepare for globalization.

We at FOD are committed to observe the three pillars of nurturing dental professionals: obligation to the students, obligation to the community and obligation to the profession. We are obliged to ensure students learn from the best and encourage exploring their potential. We are obliged that our graduated are safe dental practitioners contributing to the oral health of the individual, family and community. We are obliged to inculcate the traits of professionalism in our graduates.

Course Synopsis
The course facilitates the students to acquire knowledge from the historical perspective to the latest advancements in the field of Implant dentistry and enhance their diagnostic, surgical and restorative skills to establish optimal function and aesthetics leading to the overall well being of patients.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students are able to:
- Adapt the theoretical knowledge on implant related procedures and complications to the clinical practice
- Practice an interdisciplinary approach by interactions with specialists from other disciplines in the implant based oral rehabilitation of patients
- Critically appraise new ideas and constantly update information regarding the advancements in the field of Oral Implantology
- Perform implant surgical procedures

Course Structure
Module 1: Foundation in Oral Implantology
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN
We will cover the basics of oral implantology from the past, present and future which includes both conventional and digital implantology.
Module 2: Surgical Aspects in Oral Implantology
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN
We will cover the armamentarium, preparation as well as surgical protocol to perform a successful dental implant treatment for our patient.
Module 3: Prosthetic Aspects in Oral Implantology
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN
We will cover conventional, digital workflow and requirements to restore a dental implant successfully.
Module 4: Advanced Surgeries and Digitalization In Implant Dentistry
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN
We will cover some of the more advanced surgical procedure such as sinus lifting, ridge split and osseodensification.
Notes:
- Candidate will be provided five(5) free implants tobe placed on patients at the FOD, MUCM.
- Candidate must place an additional five(5) implantson their patients at their own clinical setting or at FOD, MUCM.
- An examination will be conducted at the end of Module IV.
- Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will be awarded the certificates during the Certificates Award ceremony.
- Attendance of one(1) ICOI conference where theICOI fellowship award will be conferred andmembership in ICOI.
