Program Structure

Year 1

Our BDS is delivered over 5 years, where Year 1 & 2 covers Phase 1 Pre-Clinical Subjects. Year 3 onwards students cover Clinical Subjects and spend most of their time in our state-of-the-art facilities that includes 3 Student Polyclinics with 51 dental units each as well as a well-equipped Prosthetic Laboratory.

The BDS programme is a comprehensive course dedicated to providing value-based dental education utilizing up-to-date technologies to ensure student satisfaction in acquiring clinical experience required for general dental practice.

Hospital dentistry, community programmes, general medicine and general surgery postings have been arranged with collaborative agencies to facilitate teaching-learning activities. The arranged postings allow acquisition of knowledge, clinical skills, and effective communication skills in the real working environment.

Entry Requirement

Programme/ Examination Minimum Entry Requirements
STPM/ A-Levels Grades BBB, ABC or AAC in 3 subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics
Matriculation/ Pre-Medical Course/Foundation in Science
  • CGPA 3.00 (out of 4.00) in 3 subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics
  • Provided the course is not less than 1 year in the same accredited institution
  • The minimum entry qualification of 5Bs each in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and another subject at School Certificate level or its equivalent.
CPU/ CIMP/ Canadian Grade 12/13 Average of 80% in any 3 subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics
Unified Examination Certificate(UEC) Grade B4 each in 5 subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Additional Mathematics.
MUFY/ UNSW Foundation/ Western Australia Curriculum Council/ HSC Sydney Australia/ Trinity College Foundation Studies/ Australian Universities Foundation Programmes/ South Australian Matriculation (SAM)/ Victorian Certificate of Education, Australian Year 12 Agregate or average of 80% in any 3 subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics OR 80% ATAR
NCEA Level 3/ New Zealand Bursary Average of 80% in any 3 subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics
Indian Pre-University Average of 70% in any 3 subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics
International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • 30 points with minimum of 2 science subjects or Mathematics at Higher Level (HL) and 1 science subject at Standard Level
  • Attained a minimum score of 4 each in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics
Diploma in Health Sciences
  • CGPA 3.50 (out of 4.00) and provided the course is not less than 5 semesters or 2.5 year in the same accredited institution
  • The minimum entry qualification of 5Bs each in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (or Additional Mathematics) and another subject at School Certificate level or its equivalent.
Degree in Medical Sciences CGPA 3.30 (out of 4.00) - 5 year undergraduate dental programme
Degree in Arts or Humanitites
  • CGPA 3.50 (out of 4.00) - 5 year undergraduate dental programme
  • 3Cs each in either Biology, Chemistry, Physics, General Science, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics at SPM (or its equivalent) or an accredited bridging course.

Notes:

a) Applicants shall be required to pass the admissions test/ interview.
b) All International students admitted to MBBS/ BDS programme from January 2018 onwards are required to meet the English language competency as stipulated by The Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE). The English language competency examination and requirement are as below:

  • IELTS (Academic): Overall Band Score of 5.0/ CEFR B1
  • TOEFL PBT: Score 410 - 413
  • TOEFL IBT: Score 34
  • CAE (Cambridge English: Advance): Score 160/ CEFR B2
  • CPE (Cambridge English: Proficiency): Score 180/ CEFR C1
  • PTE (Pearson Test of English): Score 36
  • MUET (Malaysian University English Test): Band 3
